THE PROBLEM

There are still a lack of relevant role models
for girls as we have not come as far as we think we have
in terms of equality.

THE OPPORTUNITY

To provide inspiration for girls around the world at a time when
they experience self doubt amongst many other obstacles. They need to find just 1 woman like them, to help them believe in themselves.

THE INSIGHT

We don’t need 20, 50 or 100.

We only need to see 1 hero to believe

“if she can do it, So can I”.

THE IDEA

WORLD WOMAN HOUR

60 women with 60 stories in 60 minutes.

You only need 1 hero. Find yours.

Our trailer was created to give snippets of the incredible collection of our 60 heroes content and how they overcame racism, sexism, poverty, illness, oppression and the biggest challenge of all, self–doubt.

This is our introduction to the idea and this spoken word poem taps into a girl’s thoughts and feelings. And lets her know ‘we get it’ and explains why finding that 1 hero is paramount. Performed by the poet Jamee McAdoo in front of Little Rock Central high school, the birthplace of desegregation in 1957.

JESSICA MERIR

A shining example of someone who knew exactly what they wanted to do, from the get go. Jessica broke records by being in the first ever female flight team.

MC SOFFIA

A kick-ass Brazilian DJ + performer who opened the Olympics in London and Rio. Speaking and singing for young black girls everywhere.

JANE GOODALL

A trailblazer who was inspired by Dr Doolittle and was never afraid to talk to the animals. Chimpanzees are her specialty.
